Best-in-class thermal control — SAF™ key features

SAF™, a powder bed fusion (PBF) technology using industrial-grade print heads, has revolutionized the additive manufacturing landscape with its exceptional accuracy and repeatability. Here are some of the key features of SAF™ that enable this consistent performance.

  • SAF™ ensures time-temperature consistency across the entire powder bed during the printing process. This crucial characteristic minimizes thermal variabilities and ensures uniformity of particle-to-particle fusion throughout each layer, leading to superior accuracy and repeatability.
  • SAF™ incorporates a high-resolution thermal camera with 300 thousand pixels, offering up to 100 times higher pixel density compared to similar printhead-based powder bed fusion technologies. The thermal camera is equipped with a specially designed SAF™ printed part, the vortex bell, which shields it from particles and smoke, ensuring accurate and clean thermal data for precise control.
  • SAF™ utilizes a state-of-the-art optimized heating system designed using AI techniques. The infinite loop design and unique mesh configuration of the heating system enable enhanced thermal control over the powder bed, resulting in improved efficiency, stability, and consistent performance throughout the printing process.

Robust system, designed for heavy duty

Besides SAF’s™ unique and highly sophisticated tight thermal closed loop control, the H350™ is equipped with the highest industrial grade piezoelectric print heads.

Unlike thermal inkjet print heads used in other powder-based PBF systems in the market, the H350™ features  long-lasting industrial piezoelectric printheads. Thermal inkjet printheads used are expensive consumables that require an extra cleaning roll to maintainprinting performance. Instead, the long-lasting piezoelectric printheads of the H350™ are an actual part of the machine that don’t require any extra consumables.

In addition to the ongoing cost reduction that SAF™ allows by removing non-necessary consumables, this industrial-grade feature allows customers to increase their productivity by reducing system downtime.

In summary, the advanced thermal control of SAF™ technology equates to higher accuracy and consistency, rendering finished parts with fine detail or large fused areas without compromising quality standards or throughput. Higher volume production also results from a lower need for maintenance and consumables than similar technologies. All provide a competitive cost per part. That’s why it might be time to look at Stratasys SAF™ technology and the H350™ printer.
